Sonoma Coast Surf Shop: ![]() About the Shop Formerly High Tide Surf Shop, a funky downtown Petaluma fixture for over 16 years. This was our local shop where we bought all our boards, wetsuits, leashes, bags and other stuff over the years. When the Crain’s decided to retire we jumped at the opportunity and bought the shop in April 2008. Our goal was to transform the shop back to the roots and core of surfing by stocking quality gear that worked on the Sonoma Coast waves. We changed the name, updated the inventory and now provide the North Coast surfing community with the best products available. From hardcore experienced to total beginners, we will cater to your every need. You will always know that you received the best value for your money and equipment that performs. |
Jack Murphy
Jack has been living and surfing in the bay area since ‘89, and he moved up to Petaluma in ’94. Since then Salmon, Bean and Dillon have been his home breaks. Jack is one of the shop owners and his job is to create and update this website. Say hi if you see him in the water. He’ll likely be riding his 5’8” Jamie Murray fish, or his 6’8” Vernor rounded pintail. |
Jesse Maurer
I was born in L.A. and moved to Petaluma when I was about 5-years old. I was raised here for the next 19 years, surfing the surrounding spots with my dad. I now reside in San Francisco where I'm pretty stoked to be minutes from OB. I still love working at the shop, though it’s a little bit of a drive, because it gives me the opportunity to surf the north coast.

Sarah Harvey
Having an innate love of the outdoors she has traveled the west coast from Canada to Mexico to climb, surf, and backpack. She first learned to surf as a teenager in Santa Cruz. After graduating from SSU with a degree in Environmental Sciences and Biology she took a position with PRBO in Bolinas and began surfing everyday after work. Working for the shop gives her the community and funds every surfer needs while also allowing time to prepare for grad school. Sarah has discovered an irrevocable love for surfing and will never be found far from the coast.

Ariel Bishop
Ariel Bishop was born and raised on Kauai, where her connection to the water became a necessity. The laid back feeling of the islands has directly translated to her lifestyle.
On Kauai, she guided tours that took people hiking, kayaking, zip-lining and on backcountry ATV tours. Although she left to get a Fashion Design degree at California College of the Arts in the bay area, she continued to cultivate her love for outdoor adventures. This led her to the surf shop. Here she was able to design and sew her own clothes for a store on Kauai, while also being able to teach at the summer surf camps and talk story with the customers. Ariel is now headed to Liberia to open a sewing cooperative for local women and score some uncharted surf.
